At the I.E.S.D.B. we know that our involvement in the education and success of students in the great State of Idaho would not be possible without several partnerships that we work to maintain. These partnerships include various stakeholder groups, community service groups, local school districts, and other State agencies. One such partnership that we value is with the State Department of Education.SDE logo

You may know that the State Superintendent is the Chair of our Board of Trustees, however, you may not know that in our statute, we are, by statute created to assist other agencies in serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing, or blind or visually impaired. To help achieve our mission, the I.E.S.D.B and the State Department of Education have developed a Memorandum of Understanding to guide our efforts.

Our statute states: (§33-3403)(2) The goal of the Idaho bureau of educational services for the deaf and the blind is to assist school districts and state agencies in providing accessibility, quality and equity to students in the state with sensory impairments through a continuum of service and placement options. This partnership is solidified through an interagency agreement that outlines our respective efforts and commitments. We are grateful for the partnership and the support that we receive from the SDE in working towards our vision of “Education, Communication and Independence for Life”
